The girl is amazing looking (I have no idea what that symbol on her back is suppose to be of). I agree with DevinDays when he mentioned the sign and background. I wish the background showed Raccoon City behind it and for the sign, if it looked dirty, beat up, and had crossed out words and graffiti, it would look more realistic. Though, I must admit, the lighting (although it looks like it is being project from a lamp over the sign) has been blended well into the picture. It also seems like the girl should be darker from the shadows around her. Still, great piece. You sir have talent!

ArctekFox responds:

Thank you very much :D! I got lazy with the background lol.

Well, this would certainly be an interesting way to display health or energy. Maybe they can include this into the next Halo, Dead Space, or Metroid games!

The anatomy is good and the art is a little comic-booky, but it works. My only complaint is the weird skin fold on the inner thigh of the woman (it looks kind of weird). Still, the art is great and the concept is even better. Good job!

DeliciousOrange responds:

You mean their adductor longus muscles?

I personally find them to be one of the most interesting and defining parts of the inner leg.

This just may be one of your best pictures yet! The coloring of the sun is great as is the cloud detail on the Earth below. The boy (or girl. I can't really tell) is falling to toward the Earth and appears to be melting or disintegrating, shown on the hand, knee, shorts, and hair. Something else I noticed was that the character looks like they are reaching out toward us, to grab a hold of us perhaps? The art piece is well-drawn with a cool theme invoking wonder, reflection, and fear at the same time. Great work!

Naiyus responds:

That's a fairly perfect read of what i was going for! The girl is supposed to be reaching for you to stop her fall. If you listen to the song (its a bit different, but stick through it :P) that inspired it, it kind of has a strange sadness to it that stuck with me.

Thanks for this!

She's not doing a very good job at hiding that knife or anything on her body for that matter :)

This situation reminds me of the theory of how Lizzy Borden killed her father and stepmother. It's possible that the girl is this picture didn't kill anyone. Maybe she's a farmer and she decided to slaughter a cow today, but didn't want to get blood on her clothes or maybe the murderer stole her clothes, she picked up the knife to examine it, and she spilled ketchup on herself before.

As for the art, I like the dark shading in the entire picture. It does add a sense of mystery, especially when you consider that you can't see the woman's feet (what else could be hiding in the room?). The woman is appealing and her anatomy is draw well, but I don't really find the picture that scary. To me, it's more like a joke (no offense). Then again, the contest never said it had to be scary, right?

Good job on the picture and good luck in the contest!

SileNt-Sam responds:

oh you have such a fertile imagination ^w^
well .. i was planning to draw something scary but looks like i'm not good enough to draw something like that :\ at least she got boobs xD
i'm glad you liked it and thanks 4 the review ^^

I like the concept (I bet that little guy is going to pee himself. I know I might if I saw a giant menacing dragon when I turned the corner). However, in your experiment with drawing with a single light source, I don't think you made the area away from the torch dark enough. From the light colors, it looks like the scene takes place above ground in the late afternoon when the setting might be taking place in a cave. Still, the detail on the dragon is pretty good and I do like the picture though, you may have to practice more on lighting effects.

Thanks for the in depth response, dood. I realized i'd left that part a little light after i finished coloring the thing.

Appreciate the constructive criticism :D

This art is definitely different from most of the other artwork I've been commenting on. (You may want to put more in the "Author's Comments" like the inspiration behind the piece and what you used to draw it). I love the horse just sitting by the fire laughing. I can picture him neighing with laughter. I may suggest smoothing out the coloring in the sky (it looks like a paint brush was just splashed back and forth across the paper). Still, I like the coloring; it is very unique. Good job!

idontknowcorp responds:

I can certainly add some more stuff in the comments section. As for the background, I painted that part in the dark so it did come out a little splotchy.

Thanks for taking the time to review my stuff, sir!

The drawing is great though you should really make better icon for your artwork. The character reminds me of black widow (maybe Black Widow has a sister that is a cool spy as well or a fashion model or something). It could just be the black outfit though (which look great by the way).

I love the purple eyes and hair, and although I do like there to be a background, I feel this one doesn't need it (a background might even reduce my appreciation of the woman). Very food job.

CherryLolo responds:

An i see what you mean.
That's a good idea
Yeah hehe. I wanted to place her on a bed but uhh... I can't draw beds I noticed... XD
Anyways. Thanks for the kind words and advice :)

The picture looks great. It looks like something is approaching the girl that she doesn't like. The shading on the picture is good. The eyes are also beautiful. Where did the name come from through? Also, what was the idea request?

The bed, however, doesn't seem to be drawn accurately since the headboard is shown in the back, but the bed seems to continue off screen (the headboard is also straight while the bed is shown tilted). Still, this doesn't take away from the picture's beauty. Good job!

dominiichan responds:

Thank you.
The name comes from me just freaking out cuz I don't usually draw stuff like this XD
and thanks for the tip on the bed thing X3

I love the art, but I'm not sure if the woman is made of water or just air. The colors and structure are very good. What made you decide to name this picture "Seranade"?

ArtistGamerGal responds:

Zelda ;)

I like the cartoon version here, but the head looks a little weird: the eyelashes look like they have little balls connected to the end of them and perhaps the head should bigger in height (I never thought this when I watched the show, but this picture makes her look like a pirate with that dew rag on her head). I'd love to see a more cartoonish, silly series come out of this. Great job!

ChazzForte responds:

thank you for the critique :) i was trying to emulate an artist i look up to with the balls on the end of the eyelashes. i tried to make it a reaccuring theme in a lot of my work but i always forget and it looks weird sometimes. but thank you so so so much :) i need more honest critiques on my art (and she does look like a pirate haha)
